Refined Sweet Almond Oil is a lightweight carrier oil for massage, essential oil blending and everyday skin care. Its neutral aroma and non-greasy feel make it a versatile base that lets the fragrance of your chosen essential oils shine. Available in 100mL and 200mL.
A light, softening massage oil
Sweet Almond Oil absorbs easily and helps leave skin feeling soft and supple without a heavy residue. Use it as a simple massage base or incorporate it into a body oil blend for a smooth, comfortable skin feel.
Cold pressed, then refined
The oil is obtained from the kernels of Prunus dulcis by cold pressing, followed by refining. Refined Sweet Almond Oil is distinctly lighter in colour and significantly less aromatic than its virgin counterpart, making it useful where a more neutral carrier oil is preferred. Its composition includes unsaturated fatty acids and vitamin E.
Blending and application
Use as a carrier for appropriately diluted essential oils or as a base for cosmetic skincare preparations. It pairs particularly well with Myrrh and Rose oils, allowing their aromatic profiles to come through without an overpowering base scent.
Botanical background
Almonds are native to southwest Asia and the Middle East and have a long history of traditional use, including in massage. They are now cultivated in regions with warm, dry summers and mild, wet winters, including the western United States and Spain. The deciduous Prunus dulcis tree can reach 10 metres in height and bears white to pale pink flowers.
