Olibanum Essential Oil
Vendor: Australian Oils of Nature
Olibanum Essential Oil, which is also known as Frankincense essential oil, has strong ancient roots. History shows that Olibanum Essential Oil was traded in the Middle East and North Africa as long as 5,000 years ago. It was burned as incense during religious ceremonies, applied to wounds and sores, and harnessed even as insect repellent and perfume. Olibanum was also famously bestowed upon the newborn baby Jesus by the three wise men in the Bible. Olibanum essential oil originates from the gummy sap of the cut bark of the Boswellia tree, which is a small tree with white or pink flowers that is native to the Red Sea region and northeast Africa. This oil can be identified by its pale yellow or green color and fresh, terpeney aroma. The spicy, balsamic, and slightly lemony fragrance of Olibanum oil is very popular in the perfume industry, and the properties of Olibanum are plentiful. It’s an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic, astringent, carminative, digestive, expectorant, sedative, tonic, and more! Such an abundance of qualities leads to a variety of health and wellbeing applications. Emotionally, Olibanum is useful for relieving stress and achieving a feeling of peace and relaxation. It works well diffused or dropped into a hot bath, especially when blended with Patchouli and Sandalwood oils. Studies demonstrate that diffused Olibanum can relieve depression and anxiety as well. Physically, Olibanum is a powerhouse of positive benefits. The oil improves circulation when rubbed topically, which in turn reduces joint and muscle pain and inflammation. Olibanum also supports the digestive system, and in turn the immune system, by supporting the secretion of digestive enzymes and relaxing the muscles in the digestive tract. A blend of German Chamomile, Ginger, Cinnamon, and Olibanum aids this process and boost immunity when diffused or applied topically. Furthermore, multiple studies now indicate that Olibanum can fight the cells of specific forms of cancer, even those that are resistant to chemotherapy. The astringent properties of Olibanum are also helpful in preventing tooth decay and oral infections. There’s nothing this oil can’t do!
