Grape Seed Oil
Vendor: Australian Oils of Nature
Grape Seed oil has a rich history that dates back thousands of years. The Prophet Daniel uses Grape Seed in the Old Testament of the Bible, and historians believe that European healers used “grape vine sap” to make an ointment that could treat various skin conditions. However, it wasn’t until the 20th century that scientists formally began examining Grape Seed oil’s exact properties. As the name suggests, Grape Seed oil is made from grapes, the fruit that has been cultivated for more than 6,000 years beginning in the Middle East. Today, the most grapes are grown in the United States, South America, Australia, South Africa, and Asia. The seeds from which this oil is extracted are actually found in abundance as a byproduct of winemaking. Rather than wasting the seeds, they can be cold pressed in order to extract the oil inside. Grape Seed oil has become so popular in cosmetic use because it is a light, thin oil with a very subtle hint of nuttiness. This makes the oil perfect for blending with other oils and essential oils to serve specific purposes. Considered an anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, antihistamine, and antimicrobial, Grape Seed oil is structured to significantly improve skin health. When applied to the skin, especially with Tea Tree, Lavender, and Geranium essential oils, Grape Seed oil can effectively release antioxidants and fight inflammation in order to reverse acne. The oil’s astringent properties also help to tighten the skin and even fight signs of ageing by improving skin elasticity to wipe away fine lines and wrinkles. These properties also make Grape Seed oil the perfect choice to relieve dark circles under the eyes. More than anything, Grape Seed oil is known for its ability to lock moisture into the skin. This leaves a fresh, supple look on the skin all day long. Since this oil does not clog the pores, it hydrates without leaving a greasy film on the skin. Mix this incredible carrier oil with Rose essential oil to double up on hydration and encourage the skin to improve its own elasticity, or blend with Carrot Seed essential oil to rejuvenate and regenerate tired, dull skin and fight signs of ageing.
